Rapper Wiz Khalifa's Uncle Reportedly Killed In Waterfront Shooting

HOMESTEAD (KDKA) -- Police are looking for at least two suspects after a shooting in the parking lot of the Steak 'n Shake at The Waterfront on Wednesday night.

The gunfire erupted around 8 p.m. Allegheny County detectives say the suspect and victim were inside the same car.

KDKA's Christine D'Antonio Reports:

Authorities say 20-year-old Imani Porter was shot in head while sitting in a car in the parking lot.

He was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital, where he later died.

Porter although younger, was the uncle of rapper Wiz Khalifa and had attended Taylor Allderdice High School. Khalifa expressed his shock over Porter's death on Twitter, saying:

"My uncle was younger and more level headed than all of us. I would have never seen this happening in a million years"

He also later tweeted:

"God has a plan #RestWithGodImani"

For Porter's father, the loss is beyond words.

"It's very, very hard." said Jibril Abdul-Hafith on the loss of his son. "I've been crying all night, been crying when I woke up. There's a hole in my heart."

According to detectives, two African American men took off on foot and were then picked up down the road along Waterfront Drive by an older, white Pontiac Bonneville.

KDKA's Heather Abrham Reports:

Detectives say they found heroin in the car the victim was shot in, as well as in the parking lot.

"One of the things we look for is motive, and the drugs being present lends itself to some type of illegal activity prior to the shooting," said Lt. Andrew Schurman, of Allegheny County Police.

There's no word on how many customers were in restaurant.

KDKA's Christine D'Antonio Reports:

Some of Porter's friends and family were at the police station early Thursday morning talking to police.

Later, around 1:30 p.m. Thursday, police say 17-year-old Jaron Young turned himself in at the District Magistrate's office and was picked up by Turtle Creek Police.
