Inmate's Death Under Investigation At SCI Greene
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The death of an inmate serving time at the State Correctional Institution in Greene County is under investigation by state police and state prison officials.
According to the Department of Corrections, 22-year-old Ronald Yarbough was found unresponsive in his cell just after 6 p.m. Friday.
Prison staff performed CPR until EMTs arrived.
However, Yarbough was pronounced dead at 7:48 p.m. at SCI Greene.
A press release from the Department of Corrections reports that Yarbough was serving a one- to four-year sentence for aggravated bodily injury to an officer in Cambria County.
He had been in the prison since Sept. 2013, officials said.
The Greene County Coroner will determine the cause of Yarbough's death.
His death remains under investigation.
