Man, Woman Dead In Apparent Murder-Suicide In Crafton

CRAFTON (KDKA) -- Police are investigating after a woman and her estranged husband were found dead this morning in Crafton in an apparent murder-suicide.

Crafton Police rushed to the house in the 100-block of Dinsmore Avenue around 7:30 a.m. after a father found his 40-year-old daughter and her 46-year-old husband dead inside.

KDKA's Paul Martino Reports:

"On the first floor, in the kitchen area - in the living room, right inside the front door," said Allegheny County Police Assistant Superintendent James Morton.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office identifies the man and woman as 46-year-old Richard Gorsuch and 40-year-old Amy Gorsuch. They both died of gunshot wounds.

The couple hadn't been living together for about six months. The woman came to visit her estranged husband around 8 p.m. Tuesday and never left.

Police say they believe her husband killed her before taking his own life.

KDKA's Trina Orlando Reports:

"I didn't see anything or hear anything this morning, but I heard a lot of fighting going on at different times," said Louis Gendle, a neighbor. "Not every day, but you know, you could hear them screaming late at night."

The couple's three young daughters were staying with family last night. They attend Crafton Elementary School.

"I can't even imagine seeing these kids right now. I mean, what do you say to the kids?" said Sharon Daley, who works in the school's cafeteria. "I just don't know what I'm going to say to the girls."

KDKA Radio's Barbara Boylan Reports:

Crafton Murder-Suicide

It's not clear what led to the deaths last night.

Crafton Police and Allegheny County homicide detectives continue to investigate.

"Any time there's death involved where a family is torn apart with this and there's three young girls that have to grow up now without their parents," Morton said.
