PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) – Pirates Manager Clint Hurdle joined the CBS Sports Network Morning Show of Tiki Barber, Brandon Tierney and Dana Jacobson to update them on the team’s progress, as well as to talk about their goals for the upcoming season.

“We’re focused on the next step,” Hurdle told The Morning Show.  “For 20 years, it was, ‘You’re never going to win.’  Well, we’ve won.  Now, what do we do? Now, how do we go about getting better? Now, how do we go about taking it to another level? So, our focus is acute and it’s intense. There’s a lot of fun going on here.”

Hurdle also set the bar for where he wants to see his team get to this year.

“We understand now how hard we had to work to get to where we got to, and there’s more work to be done to move further along. The sting that the team felt after Game 5 in St. Louis was real and earned, and we want to play on. We want to play deeper. We want to play longer,” Hurdle said.

Hurdle also talked about how he imparts these philosophies on his players as well as what his message was to them on the first day of camp.
