PNC Park Unveils Ultimate Grilled Cheese Sandwich, Other Items For New Season

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Several new menu items were unveiled Friday at PNC Park, and one of them includes a grilled cheese sandwich that Jason Grilli would be proud of.

The culinary team at PNC Park has spent the entire off-season thinking up new food items to please your palette.

And several media members obtained pictures of some of the creations early, taking to Twitter to offer fans a preview one day ahead of the official unveiling.

ESPN Sports and Business reporter Darren Rovell tweeted out some pictures.

One of the photos is of "The Closer," which is a grilled cheese sandwich with nine different cheeses, candied bacon and an apple compote.

"The Closer is a sandwich that I came up with to kind of honor our closers on the Pirates," said executive chef David Artiano.

Another new creation: Tatchos.

Tater tots with chili, spicy nacho cheese, and scallions.

"A tatcho is a nacho made out of potato tots, tater tots," Artiano said.

Earlier this month, the Pirates announced that burger chain BRGR is also opening its newest location inside PNC Park.

The restaurant is partnering with the Pirates to bring baseball and burgers together at the ballpark.

Fans will be treated to a few of the restaurant's gourmet burger and milkshake options, as well as the Abso-bac'n-lutely Burger, exclusive to the ballpark.

"It's out signature Angus blend burger with lettuce, tomato, onion, and of course, bacon," said Brian Pekarcik, the owner of BRGR.
