Are you looking to bring a pet into your home? Local animal shelters are a great place to find a furry companion. So, as part of Furry Tails, I’ll be doing an ongoing feature on adoptable pets from local animal shelters once a week. If you have room in your heart and are looking to bring a lovable ball of fur into your home, maybe one of these guys is meant to be a part of your family!

Video Produced By: Carrie Brandt
Layla is a sweet girl waiting for a loving forever family to come and scoop her up! This sociable pup just loves being outside and playing with toys!
Animal Friends says:
“This beautiful girl is Layla! She is very sweet and social with everyone she meets. Layla came to our facility when her family no longer had enough time to care for her. She is nervous around other dogs, and she would be able to live in a home with a canine companion if that dog is respectful of Layla’s fears. Layla should go to a cat-free home, and she is looking for a household with older, respectful children.
“Layla is up to date on all of her shots, neutered/spayed and microchipped. She is just waiting to meet her perfect, loving family! We would love for you to come to Animal Friends to meet her! Please ask to meet with an adoption counselor, so we can be properly introduced and talk about what kind of pet you’re looking for. Best of all, by adopting from Animal Friends, you make it possible for them to rescue and care for another pet who truly needs help. So, what are you waiting for? Let’s sit down together!”
If you can help, come to Animal Friends at 562 Camp Horne Road, Pittsburgh, Pa., 15237 or call 412-847-7002. For more information on how you can adopt any of the pets at Animal Friends, visit their website here!
Animal Rescue League
Playful Carl is looking for a forever home with lot of toys and lots of chances for adventure! If you’re looking for a walking partner, he might just be the guy for you!
The Animal Rescue League says:
“Fun-loving Carl is about a year old and ready to have a great time! He is about 50 pounds and rated as a Busy Bee on the ASPCA’s Meet Your Match test meaning that he is a medium energy guy who is treat and toy motivated. He should be an all-star in any training class! Carl already knows “sit” and “watch me” and he has been going to training classes at the shelter to learn more. He is certainly playful (he will play ball for as long as you will let him!) and curious (he loves to sniff ALL the things he can!) He walks well on leash after an initial spurt of ‘Yay! We’re going for a walk!’ energy so he could be a great walking or running partner.
“If you are looking for a loving and friendly boy to share in your adventures, do stop by the Animal Rescue League soon!”
Carl is neutered, up-to-date on his vaccinations, and microchipped.
For more information on Carl, and other adoptable dogs, cats, rabbits, and small animals, visit www.animalrescue.org or call 412-661-6452 ext 215. The Animal Rescue League is located at 6620 Hamilton Avenue in Pittsburgh, Pa., and is open daily.
