Earth Day Freebies!

In honor of Earth Day, the City of Pittsburgh is giving away trees.

The annual giveaway is sponsored by Mayor Bill Peduto and the Pittsburgh Shade Tree Commission.

The city is giving away flowering dogwood seedlings on a first come, first serve basis.

The giveaway is at noon Downtown at the City-County Building portico.

The city is also celebrating its status as "Tree City USA," which recognizes the city's commitment to caring and maintaining trees.

In addition to the city's tree giveaway, many stores are offering freebies in celebration of Earth Day.

Here's a look at a few:
National Parks: April 19 to 27 is National Park Week! During that time, admission to more than 400 national parks is free! In our area, those include Friendship Hill in Point Marion and the Flight 93 National Memorial site in Shanksville.

Disney Store: Visit any Disney Store on April 22 and receive a free Disneynature Bears Reusable Tote Bag when you bring in five plastic bags.

Origins: When you bring in cosmetics to recycle, you'll receive a free moisturizer. Click here to complete this form for the special offer.

Pottery Barn Kids: From April 21-25, you can get a free plantable bookmark! Kids can also participate in an eco-inspired treasure hunt.

Starbucks: Bring in a reusable mug or tumbler, and get a free brewed coffee or tea... hot or iced!

Babies 'R' Us: Free shipping, plus a free pack of two organic burp cloths!
