PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)- The NFL Draft starts Thursday, May 8 in New York.

Bob Pompeani previewed the draft with Rob Rang of CBS Sports.

And Rang says he thinks that cornerback is the Steelers’ biggest need.

“This year’s class of corners is solid, but it’s lacking in superstars and it doesn’t have the elite depth,” Rang said. “If you’re going to get one, then you probably are going to have to get one here in the first round if you’re going to expect him to be able to come in and play at a high level immediately.”

Rang said that the number of teams playing the 3-4 defense, combined with a lack of great edge rushers, will make it challenging for the Steelers to find a pass rusher in the draft.

“This is not a great draft class in terms of those elite, athletic edge rushers,” Rang said. “If you want one with size, you’re going to have to gamble early.”
