Day Of Giving To Help Local Non-Profits

PITTSBURGH- Today is the Day of Giving here in Pittsburgh and around the country.

It was part of the Give Local America program, a national day for community foundations across the country.

Give Local America says this is a way to reignite the spirit of giving with 7,700 organizations on the list to receive donations.

Locally, at PittsburghGives.org, there are hundreds of non-profits across Allegheny, Butler and Westmoreland County for you to choose from.

The minimum donation is $25. You can donate to local non-profits between 6 a.m. and midnight.

The Director of Philanthropic Resources at the Pittsburgh Foundation Kelly Uranker joined Larry Richert and John Shumway to talk about the 2014 Day of Giving.

According to Uranker, over 830 local non-profits participate in the Day of Giving.

She adds when you go to the website, you can donate to your favorite charity.

"There is a long list of charities that come up and people find an old favorites or things they went to as kids and decide to give to them as well," she said.
