Mark Kaboly: Steelers First Two Picks Addressed Needs

PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan) -- The Steelers selected linebacker Ryan Shazier in the first round of the NFL Draft. They added defensive end Stephon Tuitt in the second round and running back Dri Archer in the third round.

Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review told Bob Pompeani that Shazier could help the defense.

"I think this guy's going to be a tremendous player. A very fast guy, very physical guy. He's a guy who can make tackles. That's a problem they had last year. I think that will turn out to be a good pick," Kaboly said. "Then you look at Stephon Tuitt in the second round. Prototypical 3-4 defensive end, he's a Cam Heyward number two, so to speak."

Kaboly told Pompeani that he thought the Archer selection was a luxury pick considering that the Steelers had other needs.

"I'm not saying this guy's not going to be good, he's fast, he could provide a lot for the offense," Kaboly said. "But I don't think you're in the position right now as an organization to take a luxury pick with a third round pick."

Kaboly added that people might be more excited if the Steelers had taken Archer in a later round.
