Report: Pierre McGuire Open For NHL Return If Right GM Situation Presents Itself

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Ever since the Penguins fired general manager Ray Shero, the name Pierre McGuire has been floated around as a potential candidate to replace him.

Today, Pierre went on The Jim Rome Show and talked about those rumors.

"I think whenever you've had a chance to hold the Stanley Cup and to win a championship and get the view from the top of the mountain in the National Hockey League, it's a highly addictive thing," McGuire said.  "And if you have a chance to go back to the right situation, you can never say no. I think anybody that has been to the top of the mountain in their profession understands what I'm talking about.  It's a very addictive thing, so I never say no to anything."

McGuire certainly doesn't make it sound like he'd take his name off the list of potential candidates, so now we must sit and wait to see if the Pens truly are interested in the NBC analyst as their next GM and if he views Pittsburgh as the right situation for his return to an NHL front office.

Stay tuned to 93-7 The FAN for continuing coverage of the Pens search for their next general manager.
