Report: Roethlisberger Initially Unhappy With Steelers’ Draft Class
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) – Heading into the 2014 NFL Draft, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger let it be known that he wanted the team to draft a tall wide receiver that he could utilize in the red zone.
When the Steelers elected to go with linebacker Ryan Shazier out of Ohio State with their first pick, he wasn’t very happy with the decision.
As Josh Sanchez of Sports Illustrated writes, Roethlisberger admits to getting caught up in the media hype instead of recognizing that the front office was just doing what they thought was best for the team.
Roethlisberger did get two new weapons in the third round with running back Dri Archer and fourth-round selection wide receiver Martavis Bryant.
You can hear more on the Steelers’ draft from GM Kevin Colbert here as he talked with “The Cook and Poni Show” as he said the draft unfolded just the way they wanted it to.
