New Indoor Park "Sliding" Into Ross Township

ROSS TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- America's second "Fun Slides Carpet Skate Park" opens Saturday at the Pines Plaza shopping center in Ross Township.

The "skates" are versions of furniture slides, invented by father and son carpet installers in Harrison City.

Twenty-one years later, inventor Don Edwards and his sisters, co-owners of the EZ Moves company, put the finishing touches on the new indoor amusement park.

"From doing the shows, trade shows with EZ Moves, guys would come along, jump on them, slide on them, they'd have a lot of fun on them," Edwards says. "And I said, 'You know what, I've got to put some straps on these things.'"

Wearing glow-in-the-dark T-shirts, staff members do airborne dives and twists.

Kyle Davis, assistant manager of the first park in Greensburg, helped the owner build the ramps, creating a brand new sport.

"If you can ski, skateboard, bikes, anything like that, you can do this," he says. "It only takes about 10 minutes to learn."
