Emergency Crews Called To Fox Chapel Yacht Club
O'HARA TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – Emergency crews are on the scene of an incident near the Fox Chapel Yacht Club in O'Hara Township.
Search crews are there looking for a man in his 70s.
Reportedly he walked into a shallow area of the Allegheny River, near the docks. He was putting markers in the water to warn people about the shallow conditions.
After that, he allegedly went under the water and resurfaced just a few seconds later several hundred yards down the river.
Sources say the man is a familiar face at the yacht club and keeps a boat there.
"Very sad," said neighbor Renee Zavitsanos. "God bless his family, it's a very, very sad incident."
Officials are still looking for the man.
No word on his identity.
