BRENTWOOD (KDKA) – Brentwood council is looking at ways to cut costs.
One of the ideas is to outsource emergency services.
At a meeting Monday night the council president said the borough wants a consultant to review the proposals from Brentwood EMS and Medical Rescue Team South.
Meanwhile, some people started a petition drive to save the squad.
“We must have residents’ keys to 100 different places,” said John Posa with Brentwood EMS, “including all the different apartment buildings and things like that. We know the residents of Brentwood. In addition, we have garage codes to get into the people that can’t get to the door to answer. Do you think MRTS or any other service is going to be able to replicate that?”
A door-to-door petition campaign is underway. Volunteers say they already have over 200 signatures in support of keeping Brentwood EMS up and running.
Brentwood has 22 paid employees and 24 volunteers.
