Teen Injured In Arlington Shooting

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A teenager was shot in the chest in Arlington Wednesday night.

It happened around 8 p.m. near the corner of Spring St. and Fernleaf St.

Police say just before the 14 year old was shot, he pushed a woman out of the line of fire.

"And he pushed me out of the way ... and all the sudden I heard pop, pop, pop, pop," the woman said, "and (felt) things going past me."

Those 'things' were bullets whizzing by the woman.

"He saved my life, poor kid," she added.

The scene spans several blocks, as the teen continued to run for a ways after he was shot.

At first, he didn't even know he was shot.

"The one looked at his friend, saw he was bleeding, the young man collapsed," said police spokesperson Sonya Toler. "He's a 14-year-old. He lives here in the neighborhood."

Police found the teen in the 2300 block of Jonquil Way.

He is listed in critical condition.
