Steve Blass: Tough To Top Harrison As Pirates MVP

PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)- Pirates broadcaster Steve Blass joined Colin Dunlap Saturday on Bucco Talk. They talked about Josh Harrison's five RBI night Friday in Milwaukee.

"It's going to be tough for anybody to catch him as the Pirates MVP this year," Blass said. "I say it lightly because we all know what Andrew (McCutchen) is and what he's been and the consistency and everything. You just don't know how long this Josh Harrison run is going to go, but Clint Hurdle is playing it beautifully by running it as long as it will go, finding him a place."

Dunlap and Blass discussed the team's recent seven game losing streak, and Blass was happy that there was no mention of any team meetings.

"That's OK, because I still think that bathroom mirror is your biggest motivational factor. So I think Clint has a feel for that, and I like the fact that they didn't have any meetings. They know the deal," Blass said.

Dunlap and Blass discussed the pitching rotation, and Blass said that pitching will be key down the stretch.

"You would love to have three guys you can really roll up and down through the rotation so one of the three gets it together so you don't get in any skids. You can't afford a skid. You can't afford another seven in a row," Blass said.
