Firefighters Do Ice Bucket Challenge For Coworker Battling ALS
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The challenge is sweeping the nation, but the ice buckets hit close to home for a group of Pittsburgh firefighters.
Matt Onyshko is battling ALS and his coworkers have donated sick and vacation days to him.
Now his brothers have taken the challenge to help raise awareness for his disease.
"We've been having different events for him, but this one is like a culmination of many weeks of effort to get everyone together and to honor him and his quest to survive this," said Battalion Chief Bill Martin.
Bill and his crew also did a pass the hat campaign to raise money for Matt.
