Car Crashes In Wilkinsburg, Driver Takes Off

WILKINSBURG (KDKA)- A man is behind bars this morning after crashing and running away.

Police say the crash happened around 3:30 a.m. Monday in the 1200-block of Penn Avenue in Wilkinsburg.

The car slammed into a fence and ran over some bushes, nearly hitting a house.

When officers arrived, the driver of the car was gone.

They later tracked him down on Montier Street and he ran away from officers. The chase went up Montier Street then down North Avenue and through a wooded area.

About 10 minutes after the chase started, police caught up with the driver at the corner of Belmont and Penn Avenues.

He was taken into custody without incident. There is no word on what charges he may face.
