Pittsburgh Police Arrest 3-Men After Chasing ATVs On North Side

NORTH SIDE (KDKA)- Three men are behind bars, facing a long list of charges after leading police on a chase on ATVs.

An off-duty officer noticed the 3 ATVs and a dirt bike weaving in and out of traffic along several streets on the North Side. He said the suspects nearly caused several accidents along the way.

When police arrived, they found the ATVs riding down Kirkbride Street. When officers turned on their lights on Winifred Street, the suspects sped off at a high rate of speed.

The man riding the dirt bike turned left on Island Avenue, the 3 men riding the ATVs turned right on Island Avenue.

One of the men, Ricky Trapp, lost control of his four wheeler on Brighton Road and crashed into a car. He was pinned between the car and a tree, but still tried to rev the engine and get free.

A patrol unit following Trapp struck the back of his ATV. According to the criminal complaint, Trapp refused to get off of the ATV. An officer physically pulled Trapp off of the four-wheeler and another officer had to tackle him to the ground. He was eventually put in handcuffs and taken away.

Another suspect, 34-year-old Darnell Taylor, continued down Brighton Road on the sidewalk and turned on Armandale Street. He eventually got off the ATV at a nearby park, ran through a hole cut in the fence and onto Monterey Street. An officer was able to chase him down and place him under arrest.

The third suspect, 43-year-old Hermino Colon, was eventually found on Porterfield Street with has no outlet. The street runs into a wooded area, near Allegheny General Hospital. Police tackled Colon to the ground and took him to Allegheny General Hospital for minor injuries. They also tested him for driving under the influence of alcohol.

All three men face a long list of charges including fleeing and eluding, driving with suspended licenses and reckless endangerment. They were all taken to the Allegheny County Jail.

The man riding the dirt bike is still on the loose.
