Teen Pulls Woman From Burning Bethel Park Home

BETHEL PARK (KDKA) – A teenager is being credited with pulling a woman from her burning home Tuesday morning.

According to officials at the scene, the fire broke out at a home in the 5900-block of McPherson Avenue around 11 a.m.

18-year-od Bethel Park High School senior Renno Young was driving by and stopped to help.

"I just tried to do the right thing," Young said.

The teenager went inside the home and pulled a 71-year-old out.

"I went and pulled it open, and it was Mrs. Kelly," Young said. "She couldn't breathe, she was having a hard enough time breathing."

Young picked Mrs. Kelly up, and carried her to safety.

The house is a complete loss, several oxygen tanks exploded in the blaze.

The elderly woman remains at UPMC Mercy hospital in serious condition.

There is no word on what caused the fire.
