Ramon Foster: Steelers Can't Afford Any More Hiccups

PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)- Pittsburgh Steelers guard Ramon Foster joined "The Fan Morning Show" in his regular weekly spot Tuesday before their game against the 4-7 New Orleans Saints. After losing two games to teams with losing records already this season, Foster said that the Steelers can't afford a third.

"There's some games that we clearly left out there and took losses for. Going forward, we can't have a hiccup like that, or a mistake like that, because right now is when it really counts. It's November, December football, and guys gotta understand that it's us against everybody right now," Foster said.

The Saints are coming off a Monday night loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Meanwhile, the Steelers are coming off of a bye. But, as he talked about with Brett Keisel, Foster doesn't feel much sympathy.

"I was like, 'Keisel, it's about time we start getting teams the way teams have gotten us: off of a bye.' I don't feel sorry for their scheduling because we've been in that situation before," Foster said.

Since Foster's last appearance on the show, the Steelers released running back LeGarrette Blount, who subsequently signed with New England.

"I think it was the right thing to do because one, you want to just go ahead and nip that in the bud like that because if you don't, you'll have the press and media constantly talking about it inside your locker room, and that's a distraction right there," Foster said.

Blount had two touchdowns Sunday in his first game back with the Patriots, and Foster said that Blount might have been out to prove something.

"It's a system that he already knows about, and I'm sure he was out to prove something," Foster said. "Hats off to him for what he's doing, but it's a different mindset about that guy on our team."

Several injured players returned to practice for the Steelers on Monday, including Ike Taylor and Troy Polamalu.

"With those guys coming back, it's going to be something that we need along the stretch right here. Those guys are key to our defense with all those guys coming back. We control everything right now. Our play has to reflect what our wants are, and that's to make it into the playoffs and get a roll going."

Foster joins "The Fan Morning Show" Tuesdays at 8 a.m.
