Search For Driver Who Shot At Woman In Road Rage Incident

NEW SEWICKLEY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – Police in New Sewickley are looking for a driver who got so mad when a woman passed them this morning, they shot into her car.

Police say the victim admitted she was wrong for crossing over the double yellow line to pass a slow-moving vehicle on Rt. 68 Tuesday morning.

But she never thought the driver would get mad enough to shoot at her vehicle.

"She told us that she had come across a vehicle that was travelling much slower than her," said New Sewickley Police Det. Greg Carney. "She waited until there was a straight away to pass the vehicle, as she was passing the vehicle, the driver fired a shot at her car."

It happened in New Sewickley Township, around 7 a.m. The woman was not hurt and the bullet was found in the back door of her car. Police want to know why.

"Why, if someone is passing you, it seems a little extreme to shoot at their vehicle," said Carney.

After the shooting happened, the victim stopped at a nearby convenience store to make sure she wasn't being followed. She told police it happened so fast, she couldn't tell if the shooter was a male or female.

Police are asking the public for help to find the driver.

"We're looking for a royal blue Nissan Centra with a Steelers emblem in the back window," said Carney.

Anyone with information is asked to call New Sewickley Police or 911 in Beaver County.
