Pirates Sign Clayton Richard To Minor League Contract
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - The Pirates have announced the signing of left-handed pitcher Clayton Richard to a minor league deal with an invitation to big league camp.
The 31-year-old Richard was a combined 1-2 with a 5.91 ERA in four starts last year between Double-A Mobile and Triple-A Reno, minor league affiliates of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Richard made his big league debut in 2008 with the Chicago White Sox before being traded to the San Diego Padres in 2009.
Richard established a career-high in innings pitched (218.2) while tying career-highs in both wins (14) and starts (33).
Richard's overall career numbers are 46-47 with a 4.33 ERA (773.1 innings pitched) in 147 appearances (129 starts).
