Report: Pirates And Korean Infielder Close To Signing 4-Year Deal

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - When the Pirates won the bidding rights to Korean shortstop Jung-Ho Kang, many across the baseball landscape were surprised that they'd pony up over $5 million just to negotiate with the power hitter.

As CBSSports.com baseball writer Jon Heyman tweets, it looks like the Pirates and Kang are now actually closing in on a deal.

You can read Heyman's full report here.

If signed by the Pirates, Kang was originally seeking a four-year deal in the $5 million-per-year range.

The Pirates' plans for Kang are not yet known as many baseball experts have assumed it's unlikely he'll play shortstop here.

Kang had a huge 2014 season hitting .356 with 40 home runs and 117 RBI.
