Firefighters Battle West Mifflin House Fire

WEST MIFFLIN (KDKA) – Firefighters battled an intense house fire in West Mifflin this morning.

According to officials at the scene, the fire started around 7 a.m. in the 800-block Route 885 (Lebanon Road).

The road was shut down in the area while firefighters worked to put out the blaze.

"Luckily we have a good police department, they shut down the road for us and had everything taken care of, they redirected all the traffic," said Capt. Jeffrey Youkers with the Skyview Fire Company.

That was especially important, considering how buys the stretch of Rt. 885 can get during the morning rush hour.

The house sustained heavy damage in the fire.

No one was inside at the time of the fire, but the cause is under investigation.

The house reportedly went into foreclosure earlier this month.
