Jerome Bettis: 'Happy To Be A Part Of The Greatest Who Ever Played The Game'

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan)- Former Steelers running back and 2015 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Jerome Bettis joined "The Cook and Poni Show" Wednesday to discuss his upcoming induction.

"It feels incredible," Bettis said. "I was hoping it would happen and it finally happened. I am as happy as I could ever be."

Bettis admits that after having to wait through four previous votes, there were doubts that crept into his mind that the call may never come.

It did this year and it's something that he is proud of. He is proud to be a part of the greatest that have ever played the game.

So, who did Bettis call first upon hearing the news from our Steelers Insider Ed Bouchette that he was in?

"Dan Rooney," Bettis said. "I wanted to thank him for all that he had done to help him during his career and for his help to get him into the Hall of Fame. It was a great, great conversation that we had. I just wanted to thank him."

Bettis said he is not sure who will present him during the induction, but he has it narrowed down to his brother or his mother. He laughed when answering the question saying his mom may talk all day.

Bettis will be formally enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015. The Enshrinement Ceremony takes place at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton and will be televised nationally by NFL Network and ESPN. The annual NFL/Hall of Fame Game that kicks off the NFL's preseason will feature the Steelers and the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, Aug. 9. NBC's Sunday Night Football airs the game. - See more here

Bettis was also asked about the Steelers' current running back, Le'Veon Bell, and it's not surprising that The Bus is impressed.

"He is incredible," Bettis said. "He has the ability to do it all and the best is yet to come."
