Woman Didn't Know She Was Pregnant, Gives Birth In Wendy's Parking Lot

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Some local Wendy's employees were surprised when they found a woman had just given birth to a baby boy outside their restaurant this morning.

The new baby came as a surprise to the mom too apparently.

It happened Monday morning in the parking lot of the Wendy's on Browns Hill Road in Hazelwood.

The store's general manager saw police and paramedics in the parking lot and went outside to see what was going on, and found the woman had just given birth in her father's car.

"One of my employees said, 'I think the lady just had a baby,'" said the manager, who did not want to be identified.

Three other kids were also in the car at the time.

Witnesses say the mom said she didn't even know she was pregnant. Paramedics did get there in time to cut the umbilical cord, but the baby was already out.

"I go out there looking at her and say, 'Are you OK?' and she says yeah," said the manager. "(I asked), 'Do you need anything?' and she says no. And I ask, 'Were you due yet?'And she's like, 'I didn't know I was pregnant.' I'm like, that's hard to believe, but I guess it happens."

The mom and baby were later taken to the hospital.
