Man Undergoes Hip Replacement Surgery After He, His Mother Pushed Off Port Authority Bus

CARRICK (KDKA) -- A woman was hurt and her son was badly injured when they say an unidentified passenger pushed them off of a Port Authority bus in Carrick.

Thomas Schlick, 43, of Brentwood, is at UPMC Mercy Hospital after undergoing hip replacement surgery on Friday.

Schlick had just gotten on the bus and the driver asked for his fare when the incident happened. Schlick told the driver that his mother, Joan Schlick, who was following him, would pay.

Schlick had words with the bus driver; he even cursed at him.

A bus passenger then told him to get off the bus, and when he refused, the passenger shoved Schlick out the door to the ground.

That's when he fractured his hip.

His mother was also pushed out of the bus. She sustained a few cuts and bruises.

Port Authority Police confirm the incident took place Thursday morning, saying that the passenger has not been located.

Cindy Rideout, Schlick's sister, told KDKA-TV News, "I want that person caught, whatever happened before the assault, whether it was the bus driver or my brother, there was an assault that was illegal."
