Ross Twp. Man Accused Of Possessing & Sharing Child Pornography

ROSS TOWNSHIP (KDKA)- A Ross Township man is behind bars, accused of downloading and sharing child pornography on his computer.

Special agents with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General's Bureau of Special Investigations were cracking down on peer-to-peer file sharing involving child pornography.

The agents were able to track down an IP address that had more than a dozen files of child pornography that had been downloaded and shared.

They were able to trace that IP address to a home on Amity Road in Ross Township.

On Tuesday, the agents and officers from the Ross Township Police Department executed a search warrant at the home. At least one computer was recovered from the house.

Computer forensic examiners reviewed the computer. During their search of the device, apparent child pornography content was recovered. Also, numerous files containing child pornography were found deleted and located in the computer's trash bin.

"The age of these images depicted in these movies, I mean, they were toddler images. They were young images," Deputy Attorney General Anthony Marmo said.

Later yesterday, detectives and special agents interviewed 28-year-old Matthew McClure, who lived at the home with his parents. McClure admitted to owning and using the computer that was seized during the search.

Later, according to the criminal complaint, McClure admitted to looking at child pornography over the past couple of weeks.

He also admitted to using a file sharing program to download and view the material.  He told agents that the youngest child he has seen on his computer engaged in a sexual act was two or three years old. But, he told them he preferred children between the ages of 10 and 15 years old.

"We are proactively and aggressively seeking out those that are taking advantage of kids using these set networks to share that type of contraband and this was an example of one of those cases," Marmo said.

McClure was charged with possession and distribution of child pornography, as well as criminal use of a communications facility.
