82-Year-Old Breaks 5,000 Rides On Kennywood's "Jack Rabbit"

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – If you think you're a fan of Kennywood, you've got nothing on this guy!

Vic Kleman if a huge fan of Kennywood -- and especially the Jack Rabbit roller coaster.

"It's just fast and a little bit scary," Kleman said. "And I like that."

The 82-year-old celebrated the coaster's 95th birthday by riding it 95 times Sunday.

Kennywood officials say it took eight hours to complete the marathon roller coaster ride.

Kleman's been a fan of the coaster for decades and has kept track of every ride since 1959. So Sunday's stint brought him to 5,000 rides on the roller coaster, making him the record holder.

"I never thought about breaking the record," he said. "I just figured that I'd ride it 5,000 times and then after that, I'm going to quit counting. I'm going to ride it more, but I'm not going to count anymore -- 5,000 is a good number."

The "Jack Rabbit" was built in 1920. It's the fifth oldest roller coaster in the world.

Kleman, a member of the American Coaster Enthusiats, says it's one of the best in the country.
