Armstrong Co. Fire Leaves 1 Man Dead

NORTH BUFFALO TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – A fire in Armstrong County has left one person dead.

The fire broke out at a home in the 600-block of Bunker Hill Road in North Buffalo Township around 8:30 a.m.

According to officials at the scene, the fire appears to have started in an upstairs bedroom.

The man was initially outside of the home. When he saw smoke, he ran back inside, but was unable to get back out.

He has been identified as 74-year-old Dale Bowser. He was found on the second floor in his bedroom.

According to the Armstrong County Coroner, Bowser died of smoke inhalation. They say he was trying to put out the fire when he was overcome by smoke.

He was pronounced dead at the scene

The flames were contained to the small bedroom and Bowser's wife was able to get out safely.

The cause of the fire is unknown. The State Police Fire Marshal is investigating.
