Pittsburgh City Pools Open for the Season Today

PITTSBURGH (KDKA)- The city's 18 outdoor swimming pools open for the season today.

The city is also launching a initiative to encourage children 15 years and younger to learn to swim and enjoy Citiparks aquatic facilities throughout the summer.

Those 15 and under, who are members of the Citiparks Recreation Center will be able to use that pass at any city pool for free admission.

To receive free admission, a parent must register each fhild at any of the Citiparks' 10 recreation centers and bring that membership card to the pool each day for free entry.

The city has pools in Highland Park, Riverview Park, Schenley Park, Banksville, Bloomfield, Brookline, Brighton Heights, Carrick, Greenfield, Hill District, Homewood, Lincoln Place, Mt. Washington, North Side, Polish Hill, Sheraden, South Side and Westwood.

The pools are open weekdays from 1:00 p.m.-7:45 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 1:00 p.m.-5:45 p.m.
