Motorcyclist Arrested After Leading Police On 120 MPH Chase

UNIONTOWN (KDKA) – A motorcyclist was arrested following a high-speed chase in Fayette County Sunday afternoon.

According to police, the incident started on West Main Street in Uniontown City around 1:30 p.m.

Initially, officers attempted to pull over John Burkland, 60, of Lamont Furnace, for a traffic violation. However, Burkland took off and led police on a chase through Uniontown City and onto Connellsville Street.

During the chase, Burkland passed vehicles in excess of 120 mph. The chase ended when he crashed into a Pennsylvania State Police cruiser at the intersection of Connellsville Street and Starlite Road.

Burkland suffered minor injuries and was taken to Uniontown Hospital for treatment.

He is facing several charges including, fleeing or eluding police.
