Driver Flees After Slamming Into Parked Cars In Stanton Heights

STANTON HEIGHTS (KDKA)- Police had to track down a man overnight, after he slammed into several parked cars in Stanton Heights.

Just after midnight, the SUV crashed into a van and another car along McCandless Avenue. The SUV then hit a pole and the driver got out and took off.

"There was a loud screech, I heard several screeches," said witness Abigail Brant. "I heard a car hit another car and then another car, the whole house started shaking. It sounded like our whole house was caving in."

The driver of the car walked away from the crash scene, but not before talking to several witnesses.

"He handed me his keys," said witness Lee Barton. "He said, 'Here, park my car, I'll be right back with my wife. I'm going up to get my wife, she lives right up the street.'"

The driver has been identified as 38-year-old Jermanine Campbell.

Campbell walked away from the scene and went to his wife's home. When cops arrived at the home, his wife said Campbell was upstairs and she was worried about him.

While officers spoke with Campbell, they noticed he had suffered a head wound and other scrapes from the accident. They also detected a strong odor of alcohol.

Initially, he refused medical treatment, but was taken to the hospital after being placed under arrest.

Campbell is facing a list of charges including, DUI and various traffic violations.

No other injuries were reported in the incident.
