Police Arrest Suspect In Oakland Sexual Assault

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh Police say they have arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting a woman in her Oakland apartment earlier this week.

Police have identified the suspect as 33-year-old Rosendo Homelio Perez Scott of Apollo.

According to investigators, it was around 2 p.m. Tuesday when Perez Scott offered to help the victim carry a heavy box into her McKee Street apartment.

According to the criminal complaint, Perez Scott carried the box up a fire escape into the apartment. He asked for a cup of water. Then, according to the victim, he told the victim, "take off your shorts, I want to see it." She told him "no."

The criminal complaint reports he then took her shorts off before she was able to push him out of the apartment.

"That's extremely dangerous. I mean, I am a young girl, too. It's really nerve-racking," said Rita Pan, a student who attends school in Oakland.

Based on the victim's description, police were able to identify Perez Scott as a sub-contractor who had been assigned to work at the Oakland property on Aug. 4.

Perez Scott was taken into custody and is now facing charges of indecent assault without consent, criminal trespass and harassment.
