Hines Ward's New Restaurant Set To Open in Seven Fields

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - First Jerome Bettis, now Hines Ward is trying his hand at the restaurant business.

Ward is getting ready to open Hines Ward's Table 86 and Vines Wine Bar.

There's no doubt that Ward is still a favorite in Steelers Nation.

Now, fans will have the chance to connect with Hines on a different level at Hines Ward's Table 86.

"I'm just ecstatic about having a place I can call home and having my visions come true," Ward said.

The restaurant in Seven Fields officially opens to the public Wednesday.

The place has a casual feel and the menu is packed with all sorts of food with reasonable prices.

Some of the dishes are special recipes from Hines himself and most have an Asian flair.

A total of 75 new employees will be running the restaurant day-to-day, but don't be surprised if Hines ends up taking your order.

"You'll find me coming back here and sitting here eating, maybe serving some of the patrons, just doing some crazy things like that because I always wanted to line up all of the fans that wore my number or my jersey at the stadium and just shake everyone's hand and thank them and now, I get to do it in my own different way," Ward said.

In addition to the restaurant, there's also a wine bar with 86 different wines from all over the world. In the coming weeks, Hines hopes to have his own wine label.>

The wine bar is called Vines and it has its own menu with small plates.

Plus, there's a big outdoor seating area, where you can have a drink or wait for a table.

"This is me when you walk in from the decor to the food, the ambiance. I really didn't want it to have a sports bar feel to it, more of a casual theme," he said.

Hines said he will be in town and at the restaurant often.

"Pittsburgh is always going to be home for me. Pittsburgh has given me so many great years and there's not enough that I can repay the city of Pittsburgh, the great fans that we have," Ward said.
