Youth Football Stadium Gets Remodel Thanks To Donations, Volunteers

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A football stadium on the brink of being condemned is getting a new life.

Renovations are underway at the Duquesne City School District stadium thanks to Sam's Club and people in the community.

The district couldn't afford to maintain the stadium after they stopped playing football there 10 years ago.

The bleachers weren't safe.

"Well they were very unsafe," said Eric Ewell with the Duquesne Youth Athletic Association. "Like I said, we have babies from the age of 2 years old walking around on these bleachers. So, as an organization, we felt like it was our responsibility to get it to where our friends can come and be safe and comfortable."

Sam's Club donated $7,000 in labor and supplies.

Managers from several Sam's Club stores joined coaches and volunteers from the Duquesne Youth Athletic Association to do the work.

That athletic association will do the work.
