Martavis Bryant: 'I Own Up To My Mistake'

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – Martavis Bryant is ready to move on and learn from his mistakes following the announcement of a four-game suspension he will face this season.

"I made a mistake you know, I own up to my mistake, and I just want to move past it and get better," Bryant said.

Bryant will miss the first four games of the season due to violating the league's substance abuse policy for marijuana use, an issue that head coach Mike Tomlin was not surprised to hear about.

"He has issues that he's dealing with that are bigger than football. We're committed to assisting the man in that," Tomlin said.

Bryant said he spoke privately with his teammates and he's receiving support from them as he moves forwards with overcoming this obstacle in his career.

Antonio Brown is offering his support to Bryant, but he admits he is disappointed in the young wide receiver.

"He's got a lot of talent, man, and we want him to be the guy that we know he can be capable of becoming, and when you take steps back, it's not the right thing to do when you've got an owner like Mr. Rooney," Brown said.

Brown said he has offered advice to Bryant like surrounding himself with good people and acting professional on and off the field.

Bryant said he is going to sit down with Tomlin later this week and discuss the steps he needs to take to learn from this mistake and make sure it never happens again.

"Honestly, I embarrassed myself, I embarrassed my family, I embarrassed the team and the program, you know, I own up to my mistake and I just want to move forward and learn from my mistake and get better," Bryant said.
