Shooting In Clairton Leaves 1 Person Dead

CLAIRTON (KDKA)- Allegheny County homicide detectives are looking into a deadly shooting in Clairton.

The shooting happened just after 1 a.m. on Thursday, in the 300-block of Ohio Avenue. County detectives are waiting on a search warrant to search a home in that area.

When police arrived at the home on Ohio Avenue in Clairton, they found that man dead inside. Allegheny County homicide detectives were called and spent hours processing the home both inside and out.

A man in a wheelchair, who neighbors say lives in the home, was being questioned by police along with another man.

Police believe the second person being questioned fired at least some of the shots.

"We heard a bunch of gun shots. Sounded like at least a semi-automatic," neighbor Jeremy Elms said. "I jumped on the floor. Of course, you don't want them coming through the window."

Neighbors say they heard a crash, like glass banging, followed by gun shots, a pause and then more shots. One man was killed inside the home.

"I talked to my neighbor and he said he had bullet holes in his window, so I took my flashlight around my house and I saw a bullet hole in my porch," Bob Sabo said.

While police were investigating at the house, homicide detectives spoke with a man in an ambulance just down the hill from the home.

Police say it was connected, but it's unclear who that individual is. Meanwhile, neighbors said that there was a lot of activity at the home with people always quickly coming and going.

While bullets hit at least two of the homes on Ohio Avenue, none of the people inside those homes were injured.
