Steelers: Barring Setback, Ben Roethlisberger Likely To Start Vs. Bengals
PITTSBURGH (KDKA)- Ben Roethlisberger is almost ready to take the field for the Pittsburgh Steelers once again. Head Coach Mike Tomlin said in a press conference today that he has "no reservations" about his availability for Sunday's contest against the Cincinnati Bengals.
"We will keep an eye on him to make sure there is no negative reaction to his practice participation."
With 93.7 the Fan, Big Ben joined the "Cooke and Poni" show to update everyone on his status for Sunday's big-divisional match-up.
"I'd like to," Ben said. "But, I always want to play. Like I said, it's going to be coach's decision." "I felt good in practice, but then Thursday night it just didn't feel real good, it kind of ached on me a little bit, didn't sleep a lot," Roethlisberger said. "It was a little discouraging, but I guess that's part of the rehab process."
Roethlisberger sustained a sprained MCL in the Steelers' victory over the St. Louis Rams on September 27. He was initially supposed to miss 4-6 weeks. He's missed four consecutive games, which is the longest stretch in his career. In his absence, the Steelers are 2-2.
Sunday's game provides a big test for the reigning-AFC North champions. The Bengals comes into this game 6-0 and are looking to make it seven against Roethlisberger and co.
"It will be a big measuring stick for us," Tomlin said. "When you get big Sundays like this one it's about being excited for the preparation process."
