Man Charged In Clairton Dog Shooting

CLAIRTON (KDKA) -- Police have charged one man with animal cruelty for shooting a dog Tuesday morning, but they are still looking for a second suspect.

James Pamplin II, 20, was charged with animal cruelty Friday for shooting and wounding a Clairton family's 6-month-old dog.

The family says their dog, Simba, ran out their front door Tuesday morning. As Skylar Brown came outside, he saw two men standing over the dog.

"As I was walking out the door, I heard the gunshot and [saw] the guy standing over the dog," Skylar Brown said. "I asked him, 'Did you shoot my dog?' and he replied to me, 'No, I didn't shoot your dog.'"

One of the men had run off at this point, and as Jessica Ferrero came outside, the man with the gun ran off as well.

Police are still searching for the second man.

Simba was taken to the Riverside Veterinary Clinic in Elizabeth. The bullet was lodged just under his skin near his hip, after traveling from his shoulder and through his spine. Veterinarian Dr. Marybeth Cline said Wednesday that his condition was day-to-day.

A family friend created a GoFundMe page to help pay for vet costs. In four days, 54 people have donated a total of $2,230.
