Teen Killed In Crash After High-Speed Chase In Fayette County

FAYETTE COUNTY (KDKA) -A Brownsville High School senior died in a crash after leading police on a high-speed chase in Fayette County.

Police say 18-year-old Andre Smith was involved in a criminal incident Saturday evening.

It's believed to have started as a domestic dispute. Two women in a vehicle called 911 and said they were being followed by Smith.The women also believed Smith had a gun.

Police did not specify a relationship between the women and Smith, but they did know each other

Eventually, the victim flagged down a state police car for assistance. When state police tried to pull Smith over, he took off.

Police say Smith was driving on Market Street in Brownsville at a high rate of speed. At one point, they say he was driving south in the northbound lanes of Market Street. When he tried to make a right on Bank Street, Smith's car spun out and slammed into an old bank, which is now the Brownsville Apartments. Police found a gun in the vehicle after the crash.

The chase only lasted for about a half-mile.

Smith was rushed to Uniontown Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Smith was a senior at Brownsville High School.
