Light Of Life Mission, City Police Helping Those In Need On Thanksgiving

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The Light of Life Rescue Mission and Pittsburgh Police are once again doing their part to help those in need this Thanksgiving.

Volunteers began the food preparations early this morning at Light of Life.

The meals will be served from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

More than 1,000 meals are expected to be served to those in need.

It's all made possible by those who volunteer.

"We couldn't do days like this without our volunteers and our donors. So, we want to thank all of them. We have about 100 volunteers coming in just today. Preparation for Thanksgiving started a month ago and 100 turkeys have been cooked and prepared," Light of Life Public Relations Manager Kate Wadsworth said.

Meanwhile, city police officers are also helping provide Thanksgiving dinner for those in need.

As part of the Get Stuffed with Love event, officers throughout the city are delivering meals.

More than 2,500 meals will be given out over the course of the day.
