New Surveillance Video Released After Bus Crashes Into Business

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police have released new surveillance video of a stolen school bus that ended up inside a Monroeville Business.

The video shows someone stealing the First Transportation Company bus in the early morning hours of November 19th.

"From the position of the surveillance video at the bus garage that the SUV was waiting for the bus as it pulled out when it was stolen from the bus garage in Plum Boro," Monroeville Police Chief Doug Cole said.

Around 3:30 a.m. that morning, the unknown driver crashed the bus into the side of the Vitamin Shoppe at the Penn Plaza Strip Mall.

The bus traveled all the way inside the store.

Police say they are certain that there was more than one person involved in the crime.

"We went to multiple businesses, and this is the best video we got from multiple sources," Chief Cole said. "We are positive that the SUV that is following the bus is involved in this."

Cole says for unknown reasons the Vitamin Shoppe was targeted, although a Smash Burger restaurant next door was also damaged.

Police say the person behind the wheel of the SUV will also face charges.

They describe it as an older version of a Ford Explorer or Expedition, light over dark.
