Molotov Cocktail Thrown Through Window Of Penn Hills Home

PENN HILLS (KDKA) -Police and the fire marshal are looking into a suspicious situation in Penn Hills.

Around 3 a.m. on Wednesday, someone threw a Molotov cocktail through the front window of a home on Pride Road.

Penn Hills Police said an officer and his K-9 were in the area when they heard the call. Police tried breaking down the front door and while officers were on scene for the fire, they heard gun shots in the area.

Officers say they're not sure where the shots were coming from or who was firing them. However, police secured the area and kept fire crews back saying there was someone with a gun.

Once firefighters were able to get to the house, they were able to put the fire out with a fire extinguisher. The fire marshal says the two people who were inside were not hurt.

The damage is minimal, but now the task is finding out who threw the Molotov cocktail and if the shots fired after are related.

Detectives were searching woods close to the home Wednesday morning for a possible weapon. They also went door-to-door attempting to interview neighbors about what they saw.
