If It Measures Up, Pittsburgh To Tie Record For Latest Snow
PITTSBURGH (AP) - Assuming it measures up, the snow falling in Pittsburgh Monday will tie the city's record for the latest snowfall since records have been kept.
The National Weather Service says Pittsburgh should wind up with about an inch of snow. The previous latest snowfall in the city was also on Jan. 4, way back in 1942 - or 74 years ago.
Snowy conditions slowed the morning commute for some motorists, but no major delays were reported.
At least two Pittsburgh-area school districts delayed classes Monday - the first day back for those students after the Christmas break - though city schools were on a normal schedule. The Canon-McMillan and Monessen City school districts were delaying classes for two hours due to slippery roads.
