7-Year-Old Students Say Classmate Threatened To Shoot Them

WEST SUNBURY (KDKA) - An incident Wednesday at the Dassa McKinney Elementary School in West Sunbury,  Butler County has left two local parents upset and frustrated.

Two 7-year old girls were in the school library, when a 7-year old male classmate, came over to where they were sitting, got into a verbal argument with one of the girls, then threatened to go home, get a pistol, come back and shoot the girls in the head, and "shoot their eyes out."

Erica Early, one of the girl's parents told KDKA TV's Ralph Iannotti Thursday night "I'm very frustrated, very upset, and hurt, my daughter should not have been treated like this, something should have been done yesterday, not today."

Early said she didn't find out about the incident until this afternoon,  when she got a call from the school principal who told her what had happened, and that un-named disciplinary steps had been taken against the boy.

Another parent, Nichcole Cummins, whose daughter is also in the first grade at McKinney, and was also threatened, said "I was appalled, I couldn't believe in this day and age, what goes on, they are little kids; the boy didn't have a weapon, but, it's still a threat, and it's very scary."

Early said her daughter told a librarian,  a cafeteria worker, and a teacher about the threat yesterday, but nothing was done.

Both Early and Cummins agreed that action should have been taken against the boy yesterday, since he was on a school bus again today, and something awful might have occurred.  Neither the Dessa McKinney School Principal, nor the Superintendent of the Moniteau School District would comment on the incident.
