Man, 18, Fatally Shot At Greentree Road Hotel

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- An 18-year-old was fatally shot at a hotel on Greentree Road late Friday night.

Martell Benton-Bridgett of McKees Rocks was shot in the chest at the Holiday Inn Express around 11 p.m. Friday and later died at Allegheny General Hospital.

The shooting took place in a room on the 7th floor of the hotel. Police say they believe there was a party in the room at the time, and several party-goers were questioned.

Bert Bankovic, a guest who was staying in the hotel after a fire destroyed his home, said he heard one or two gun shots right below his room.

"I'm moving out because this is... there is constant drug traffic here in this parking lot," he said. "I live here. I've lived here since January 1, and I am no longer living here as of tomorrow."

Police did not say if drugs were involved in the shooting. They say the motive for the shooting is unclear, and the investigation is ongoing. Allegheny County Police ask anyone with information regarding this case to call 412-473-1300.
