1 Person Killed After Crashing Into Tree In Unity Twp.

UNITY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- One person died after a one-vehicle crash Thursday evening in Westmoreland County.

Emergency officials say it happened around 5:45 p.m.

The Westmoreland County Coroner's Office identifies the victim as 27-yera-old Cory Hetz of Youngwood Borough.

He was pronounced dead at the scene around 6:40 p.m. from blunt force trauma to the head, neck and chest.

Officials say Hetz's Ford Focus was headed south on Bailey Farm Road near Green Valley Road in Unity Township when he lost control, went off the road, hit a utility pole, careened through a wooded area and then hit a tree.

Authorities say he was wearing a seat belt.
